In the last few decades floating markets in Thailand, serving as places for trade and exchange of organic products, have came up as tourism destinations. Thailand is rich in canals, boats, homes, fruits, vegetables and souvenirs in certain and multiple ways.

Thailand welcomes tourists by showing not only with its beautiful nature and climate, but also with its culture. Bangkok is known for its modern skyscrapers and temples, amusement parks and palaces. Tourists enjoys modern shopping centers and floating markets


from ancient era the Thais have used rivers and lakes for recreational purposes and transport for trading and living. They built big floating villages, with some are still in existence.


There are not many floating markets in Thailand nowadays,whichever are still in existence are open for tourists. One can see narrow canals, boats loaded with fruits and fragrant food, shops on the pontoons selling different material, sellers wearing straw hats. Seeing these thing will make you feel special as it create exotic atmosphere which attract and fascinates tourists.

For centuries rivers and canals have been part of the social and economic center of Thailand as means of transportation, agriculture and consumption, and as sites for cultural celebrations. Floating markets served as central places for trade and exchange of agricultural products in Thailand. Wat Sai in Bangkok was the first floating market which became a tourism attraction. However, Wat Sai closed in the 1960s.


There are multiple markets one can visit and love to explore. Amphawa floating market is loved by locals however, it is not much known to foreigners. The selling process happens on the water and on the land. Buying and selling things on the water is absolutely fascinating.


Damnoen Saduak known as biggest floating market and popular among tourists. It is situated in Ratchaburi Province. One can rent a boat and travel whole market. Here you will find a wide choice of Thai souvenirs. The prices are foreigner centric, so it is not reasonable to buy all souvenirs. Damnoen Saduak floating market attracts with its lively and vivid atmosphere.


There is a number of “tourist projects”, artificial floating markets designed specially for tourists, for example Sam Phan Nam in Hua Hin and Pattaya Floating Market. Local people only sell there. However, these markets attract a big number of tourists every year. You can choose from wide variety of goods and entertainments. At Pattaya Floating Market you can enjoy a boat trip, watch Thai national show and Thai boxing match, go to the 4D cinema and try rope flying.


Phuket's floating market situated in Kathu district are closely interwoven with the present times. At the entrance there is tall Ganesha statue and a colorful fountain. floating market hosts Thai folklore show. Thai girls dance in national costumes. Enjoy the scenic beauty and capture multiple moments in your camera.


Take a boat or a catamaran trip at the lake which will make your shopping experience in Phuket more exciting. There you can purchase souvenirs, clothes, bags, handbags, shoes, cosmetic products, spices and healing herbs. When you get tired and feel hungry, you can have a meal in one of the cafes which serve Thai and European food. After making all the purchases, Visit Thai massage or fish peeling, kids can feed koi fish and enjoying delicious ice-cream in Hero Café with their favorite film characters.
